Instagram is growing faster than any other social media channel. Writing an Instagram bio is not that easy, it requires a lot of thought!

Your bio is the backbone of your presence on Instagram. It’s worth investing some of your time to get it right.

Wondering how to write the best Instagram bio?

In this article, you’ll discover how to write good Instagram bios that make a great first impression and convince new visitors to click the “follow” button!

Let’s get started:

1. Start with Basic Description

One of the most evergreen formulas for writing an amazing Instagram bio is to include a self-description. A self-description doesn’t just sound honest but is also a peek into the manifolds of your personality.

For example, if you take a look at Queen Latifa’s Instagram bio, you will immediately come to know that she is more than an actor.

The first line of her bio says, “Actor/Rapper/Singer/Producer.” Not only does self-description generate interest in people, but it also makes your bio appear cool.

Remember that your Instagram bio doesn’t have to be lengthy and tiresome as long as it is descriptive.

Here are some cool Instagram bios ideas:

Source

2. Use Keywords for the Field Name

If you think that the name field on Instagram is just there to add your name, it’s time you take a look at it again. When you click on the edit name option, the first field that you find is your name. Remember that it is different from your Instagram username.

While most people fail to pay attention to it, it is the name field that makes up the first 30 characters of your Instagram bio and is an excellent source of helping you with the SEO.

It will especially help people find you, who will look up your name on Instagram. For this reason, use keywords specific to your niche. Take the example of the brand falcon that ads falcon.io to its Instagram name since this is what people search to find the brand on Instagram.

3. Add Skills and Experience

Your skills and experience define your personality. Make sure you add them in your Instagram bio so that people get drawn towards your expertise.

Let’s take a look at the bio of renowned marketer Neil Patel. In a quick eye moving bio, he describes the best of himself and manages to keep the user engaged. Here’s his bio:

It gives the perfect insight to the user, what you are willing to offer.

[insert page=’how-to-effectively-use-instagram-for-influencer-marketing-this-2020-and-beyond’ display=’single-related-article-02.php’]

4. Put a Call to Action

Regardless of whether you own a business or are an influencer, having a call to action in your bio gives you an extra edge. Since Instagram only lets you add links in the bio, you can actually use it to draw traffic to your website or product.

Be it signing up to your platform, purchasing your next product, or asking people to listen to a track you produced, CTA can help you do it all.

Look at the famous author and life coach Tony Robbin’s Instagram bio that includes the CTA ‘Watch the Documentary’ along with adding the finger emoji for added effects.

5. Add Your Hobbies and Interests

Adding your hobbies and interests can be a great way to generate anticipation among the people and drive them to follow you. Whether you are a brand or an individual follower, adding a hobby or interest can help you connect with the audience and establish a relationship with them.

Haring hobbies and interests also make you appear cool and likable. Don’t believe it yet?

Take a look at T-Mobile’s Instagram bio that says it is a crusher of customer pain points and likes to binge Netflix apart from creating the most advanced wireless network ever.

6. Don’t Shy Away from Using Emojis

Emojis make your Instagram bio a visually refreshing. They are fun to add and help your brand stand out from the crowd. They are also helpful since they can help in expressing a lot without writing about it.

You can try to be creative and use a combination of words and emojis in your bio or use emojis to emphasize on the key content like the brand Jetblue does it. However, refrain from using too many emoticons or using them without any content.

7. Don’t Miss Out on Your Contact Information

Your contact information is the only way your followers will reach out to you. In case you’re a fan page, influencer, or a business, always make sure to leave your contact details in the bio, so that interested people can get in touch with you easily.

In case you are a famous brand, you can also direct people towards your support by adding a link. However, if you’re looking for something general, you can always write ‘For inquiries contact…’

[insert page=’a-peek-into-the-top-25-content-marketing-tools-for-2020′ display=’single-related-article.php’]

8. Add Your Brand’s Hashtag and Tag Related Accounts

One of the best things that you can do with your Instagram bio is to tag all related accounts and add your brand’s hashtag there. This wasn’t possible earlier, but thanks to Instagram updates from last year, brands can now add profiles and usernames to their bios that can be clicked by the users.

You can try this by adding the ‘@’ or ‘#’ icon to your bio which makes the content following it instantly clickable.

Check out the brand Moment that uses their Instagram bio to promote other business profiles along with their original brand hashtag. This practice also helps in maintaining a sense of authenticity and reliability for your band.

9. Use Custom Fonts

Even though Instagram in itself doesn’t offer a choice of fonts, you can use third-party applications to do it for you and make your bio stand out.

For example, you can use a tool and easily try out the fun and quirky fonts for your bio.

Check out the bio of Gavin James, who is a senior creative at Aardman Animations. It’s fun and undoubtedly quirky, making it worth a try for everyone out there.

Don’t make your Instagram bio static – Try different texts, emojis, phrases, and more. Do you have any tips to make Instagram bio impressive? Please drop your thoughts here.

You invest your time to create a beautiful email campaign and hit the send button.

Hope for the best.

But when you check your stats…

Crickets.

No one opened and read your emails.

You think, “what’s the point to send emails when no one is reading.” It makes you disappoint.

The success of your email campaign depends on your conversion rate.

The question is: How do you get more people to open, click, and read your emails?

In this article, you’ll discover 5 actionable hacks that will help you to craft a successful email campaign.

Let’s go.

1. Use ‘your real name’ as sender name

Email is a personal channel and email marketing helps to build a relationship with your subscribers.

Right?

You’re talking to them, so it’s better to put a name to your face.

Place your real name and email address in the ‘from field.’ People ignore the email that comes from a company.

64% of subscribers say they are likely to read an email because of who it’s sender name.

Pinpointe marketing found that by using a real person name can increase open rates by 35%.

Also Read: Email Marketing Subject Lines – Why They Can Make or Break Your Email Marketing Campaign (And What to Do About It)

Check out these emails from OptinMonster. They use a specific person name (Keri) as the sender name.

2. Make your subject line personalize and engaging

What motivates you to decide the value of an email?

Subject Line. Right?

35% of email recipients open email based on the subject line alone. (Source)

What do I mean by great subject line?

The subject line that encourages people to open and read your email.

Subject line tactic #1: Recipient’s name in subject line

Putting the recipients’ name in the subject line can increase your open rate. People love to see the thing that winks their identity.

Subject line with recipient’s first name can boost open rate by 29.3%.

Check out these subject lines which include my name:

Subject line tactic #2: Induce a sense of urgency

People are afraid of missing out on a good deal or update.

Use phrases like: “Last chance”, “24 hours only”, “Limited time offer”, “Today Only” etc.

Take a look at this subject line:

Subject line tactic #3: Use some humor

Your readers will love you if you make them smile. Add little humor in the subject line, but don’t do it over.

I love Chubbies subject lines. They are Picasso of this art.

3. Preview text to give them a teaser

Leverage the power of preview or preheader text. It’s like a teaser that shows a sneak peek of email.

Use it as an extension of subject line. Make it actionable. You can put your special deal or promotion here.

Litmus survey found that 24% of respondents look at the preview text first when deciding to open an email.

Take a look:

Also Read: How to Use the Art of Storytelling In Email Marketing

4. Use the word “You”

Reduce the quantity of “I” in your email and replace it with “You”. Write one-to-one as if you were talking to your friend.

The next time, when you send out an email: Don’t overuse word “I” and avoid sounding like a Robot. Use the power of storytelling in your email and write it like you’re telling a story.

Check out this email and count how many times the message says “you or your”.

5. CTA button matters!

Instead use descriptive and actionable phrases like “Get the Free Demo”, “Download Your Free eBook Here”, “Shop Now”, etc.

Don’t place 2-3 CTAs in single email. Pick just one enticing CTA. Emails with a Single CTA Increased Clicks 371% and Sales 1617%. (Source)

Kath Pay shared her take here:

“Keep in mind that CTAs are the trigger for an action, and we need to ensure we’re asking them to take the most appropriate action based on where they’re at within the buying journey. If the trigger isn’t appropriate for where they’re at in the purchase funnel, they’re less likely to convert.”

Now It’s your turn

You put a lot of effort and time to build your email list. I hope these methods will help you to start a conversation with your subscribers.

Many of us relate to a commercial which might have aired years ago because it was a story that we felt we were a part of. It is a fact that when a person listens or reads a story, it stays with them. A story remains with us for a much longer time than facts and figures ever will.

Neuroscientific research states that when a person listens to a story, Dopamine, a neurotransmitter hormone is released which is responsible for memory retention. The part of our brain, the cortex becomes active and pictures the tale and conceives the story for a lifetime.

[bctt tweet=”Thus using stories is better than stating facts and figures in your marketing pitch. ” username=”relevance”]

Using the art of storytelling is of great benefit to email marketing in particular because an email lands in the inbox which is a very personal space of any individual.

Here is how you can leverage the art of story-telling in email marketing:

1. Use People to Narrate the Story

Relatable characters are the essence of every story. A relatable name with which a story begins instantly creates a connection between the reader and the story. A name in the subject line also creates instant engagement.

Just like having names in a story helps the listener or the reader to start picturizing everything that is being said and conceive the plot better and make it more believable.

In Email marketing, the foremost challenge is that the subject line is catchy enough that the user opens the email and reads through. This barrier can be easily crossed if your subject line includes the name of a character.

For example, if your subject line includes “Find out how Drake saved more than 500 USD annually by shopping with us” ought to appeal more than just stating “People have saved 500 USD on shopping”. When you use names, it makes the story more believable.

Here is a great email from Jeff Goins which includes the stories from real people:

2. Never Make Your Email a Sales Pitch

Right from the beginning of the day, one sees advertisements every hour of the day. There are advertisements all over the internet, the newspapers, hoardings around us, everyone is trying to sell us something or the other.

If your email is also a sales pitch which talks about the USP of the products and your offerings, there is a very high probability that the user will never read your email till the end.

Email marketing aims to register your brand in the reader’s mind and establish a connection with the user and not be a sales pitch of your product. For users to be intrigued by your email, it’s important that you weave a story around your product.

As I mentioned in my book here:

“It’s your job to give your readers something relevant and valuable. The sole purpose of your every email is to encourage readers to read your next email.”

Storytelling in the email results in featuring all the USPs of a product in an indirect way. It establishes a connection with the user and creates a lasting impact on the user and registers your brand in their memory.

Meera Kothand is a master of this art. She always tries to solve queries in her emails. Check out one of her emails:

3. Share Your Experience

A story showing a personal experience has a tremendous impact on the user. It involves the reader completely. Photographs and videos embedded in the email where the user can actually see the user has a more significant impact on the user.

A personalized story has an impact on the reader and effortlessly compels the user to click on the call to action achieving your purpose of an email marketing. Sharing a personal story also plays a vital role in retaining the customers as they get to understand that they have something more than you are offering and like to stick to you.

Take a look at this email from Mary Jaksch:

4. Be Real

When you decide to create a story, it should be very real. Right from the images, the theme of the story, the videos and everything that you mention in the story should be real.

This is the right time to tell about your story or a story of someone else who has used your products or services and you ought to keep it real. True stories, when written from the heart and establish a deep connection with the reader.

A tale of a satisfied customer or a tale about how you craft your products or the processes you follow in rendering your services entices the reader.

Check out one of emails I sent to my subscribers:

5. Let Them Know About You

Humans are born curious when they unfold your journey as a brand and realize your story, the engagement with the brand is amazing. Putting forward your story will resonate with the customer’s thoughts whenever they come across your brand and influence their decisions every time they have to choose between your brand and your competitor.

Speaking about you, how it came into existence and what motivates them. You can tell interesting facts about your company it can be about the logo, you can tell how your mascot got designed or anything that is personal. You can also share a case-study that lead to new product innovation in your company.

Check out this email from Terry Williamson:

An on-point email campaign will help you increase your brand value and interact with customers one on one.
