I’m Ben Lilley, a creative entrepreneur, and private investor. After 20 years of starting, running and then selling ad agencies, I had enough of being a hands-on exec. I quit my job and took six months off to explore Europe with my wife Mish and three kids. Once back in Australia, I set up an entrepreneurial fund to allow me to oversee a number of different investments, but remain very hands-off! My main interests are advertising and marketing businesses in creative, digital, design and media. But I’m also an investor in creative privately-run businesses, like global Swedish design and stationery retailer kikki.K. I travel a lot and enjoy catching up and comparing notes with entrepreneurs across the world. From global leaders like Richard Branson to local legends back home in Australia. Back when I was a bit more hands-on, I also sat on the board of the Advertising Federation of Australia and featured in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, AdNews’ Top Forty Under Forty and CEO of the Year Awards. I was a regular public speaker on branding, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Now, not so much though, as I’d frankly rather travel for pleasure with Mish and the kids than for business! Although I still do the occasional gig from time to time.
