Tech Startups Unite for a Good Cause
On Wednesday, April 24th, Uberflip will host their fourth annual Startupong, a charity ping pong tournament in support of SickKids. This event will bring together several of Toronto’s best and brightest tech startups in the spirit of friendly competition, giving back, and having fun. This year, participating startups will throw down their best ping pong skills as they attempt to raise over $50,000 for SickKids.
Since 2014, Startupong has doubled in size year after year and has attracted a number of notable sponsors and startups including WealthSimple, Shopify, PWC, LinkedIn, League, and BrainStation. Startupong sold out last year and this year promises to be even bigger. In a blog post announcing this year’s event, Uberflip Co-Founder and CEO Yoav Schwartz stated,
“We’re proud of what Startupong has become and the impact that it’s had in connecting the tech startup community here in Toronto. As our company continues to grow, we recognize that we have a responsibility to our community and we are committed to giving back.”
It’s shaping up to be a busy year for Uberflip. Along with Startupong in April, Uberflip is bringing back their, recently renamed, digital marketing event Conex: The Content Experience in August. More on that here. The future is bright for Uberflip and if you haven’t been keeping tabs on all of their upcoming events, now is the time to do so.
Be Apart of Toronto’s Buzziest Ping Pong Event
General admission tickets are free and currently available. They include two drink tickets, free appetizers, and the company of some truly passionate tech startups. Merch, including the signature Uberflip Startupong headband, will also be available for attendees.
Individuals can register in the doubles ping pong tournament for a donation of $200 per team of two and startup sponsor packages include a team of two and promotional opportunities will be available. Team registration will open up on March 25th, one month before the event.
Startupong is produced by startups for startups and is all about bringing the startup community together for a good cause. This event is less about recruiting and more about bringing the Toronto startup community closer together.
Anyone interested in or a part of the tech startup scene is welcome to attend and the event will be located at SPiN: Ping Pong Social Club.
